China factory verification · 32
Does an ISO 9001 certificate prove this Chinese supplier is the charger factory?
A valid certificate supports the named organisation’s quality management system within stated sites and scope. It does not certify the charger or prove who made the quoted model.
Executive summary
An ISO 9001 certificate describes the quality management system of the named organisation within its listed sites, activities and validity period, rather than certifying the charger itself. Overseas buyers should verify the issuer and current record, then link the legal entity, Unified Social Credit Code, operating address and scope to the quoted model and recent production records; the certificate does not establish factory ownership or where this order will be made. ZIMONAI’s editorial view is that its value lies in showing a management system operating around the product being purchased; the logo alone says little about the next shipment.
- 01
Identify the certification body and verify the certificate’s current status; ISO itself develops the standard but does not issue ISO 9001 certificates.
- 02
Match the organisation name, Unified Social Credit Code, registered address, covered operating address and manufacturing scope—not only the ISO logo or company name.
- 03
Connect the certified site to the quoted charger with model, process, bill-of-materials and order evidence; quality-system certification is not product certification.
Who issued the certificate—and what did they certify?
ISO describes ISO 9001 as a standard setting requirements for a quality management system. Certification is voluntary and performed by an independent certification body; ISO does not certify organisations or issue certificates. The first check is therefore the named certification body, its official contact and query service, and whether it is authorised for the stated activity—not an ISO logo copied into a supplier PDF.
For certification conducted in China, the currently effective CNCA-QMS-01:2025 rules use GB/T 19001 and/or ISO 9001 as the certification basis. The rules require audits to cover the management system and typical products or services within scope, but they also require the audit report to state that the audit was sampling-based. Certificates may be valid for no more than three years, require continuing surveillance, and can be suspended or withdrawn. A status checked today is useful dated evidence, not a permanent guarantee.
Do the legal entity, factory address and manufacturing scope all match?
CNCA-QMS-01:2025 requires a China QMS certificate to identify the certified organisation, Unified Social Credit Code, registered address, covered operating address or addresses, the scope of products, activities or services, the applicable standard, issue and expiry dates, certificate number, certification body and a query path. For a multi-site organisation, every site included in the certification scope must be listed. Those fields let a buyer test a factory claim instead of treating the certificate as a decorative badge.
Put the certificate beside the Chinese business licence, supplier quotation, contract, invoice details and the address where production is said to occur. A certificate naming a trading company, sales office, unrelated address or broad service scope does not by itself support a claim that a particular charger is manufactured at the visited site. A difference is not automatic proof of fraud: OEM, group-company and subcontracting structures can be legitimate, but the relationship must be documented before the buyer relies on it.
- Certified legal name and Unified Social Credit Code
- Registered address and every covered operating site
- Manufacturing activities and product scope relevant to chargers
- Certificate number, issue date, expiry date and current status
- Certification body and, where claimed, accreditation scope
- Documented relationship among seller, certificate holder and factory
What still connects the certificate to this charger and order?
ISO’s conformity guidance warns that a management-system certification mark must not be placed on a product in a way that implies the product itself was certified. The practical boundary is important: ISO 9001 can support how an organisation manages processes; it does not establish that a charger passed electrical-safety, EMC, chemical, performance or destination-market requirements.
ZimonAI’s practical method is to build four explicit links: seller to certified legal entity; certified entity to the covered manufacturing address and scope; factory to the quoted model, process and current bill of materials; and the model to the actual order through samples, production schedule and inspection records. Ask to see model-specific work instructions, incoming and final inspection criteria, nonconformity or corrective-action records and traceability examples during an audit. These records do not turn a sampled visit into certainty, but they test whether the certificate’s scope is operating around the product being purchased.
